30 clubs across the county will share €723,086 in sports equipment funding

Minister Catherine Martin has announced over €26m in equipment grants to sporting organisations nationwide

Volleyball, billiards and snooker and even American football are among the 30 sports organisations in Co Kildare that are set to receive funding as part of the latest sports equipment grants.

A total of 30 clubs across the county will share €723,086 in sports equipment funding.

The news was announced by Minister for Sport, Catherine Martin, as she confirmed that a record €26 million in equipment grants will be shared between over 900 sports organisations across Ireland under the latest round of the Sports Capital and Equipment Programme (‘SCEP’).

Co Kildare sports organisations allocated funding under the sports equipment grants:

  • 21st Kildare Narraghmore Crookstown Scouts: €2,567 for tents
  • 23rd Kildare Sallins Scout Group: €12,901 for canoes, trailer and container
  • Athgarvan pitch and putt club: €40,000 for machinery (Fairways mower and scarifier)
  • Athy Dragon Boat Club: €28,363 for the purchase of replacement boast and storage
  • Athy Hurling Club: €669 for a summer hurling league for the under 14 team
  • Athy Rowing and Canoeing Club: €9,215 for enhancement of canoe marathon discipline
  • Ballyoulster United AFC: €40,000 for a new tractor mower
  • Cill Dara Crusaders (American Football): €16,000 for Renewing the Crusade
  • Clane Golf Club Clongowes Wood College: €26,837 for equipment
  • Curragh Swim Team: €26,141
  • CYMS Newbridge (Billiards and Snooker): €64,838
  • Dublin Gliding Club CLG T/A Leinster Gliding Centre: €1,693 for Ground Training Centre (training flight simulator)
  • Eire Og Corra Choill Hurling: €47,419 for wide area grass mower and storage garage
  • Kilcock Basketball Club: €7,672 for basketball equipment for additional hall rental
  • Larrie Birds Basketball Club: €11,784 for equipment and team kit
  • Leixlip Amentities Group Ltd: €70,000 for gym equipment
  • Monasterevin Blueway Kayaking Club: €18,184 for the upgrade of facilities and purchase of equipment
  • Monasterevin Community Centre Ltd: €15,521 for community sports club support
  • Naas Triathlon Club: €17,440 for increasing engagement and performance
  • Poulaphouca Paddlers: €54,998 for On the Water Everyone is Equal
  • Sallins Celtic Football Club: €21,600 for a new mower
  • Salmon Leap Canoe Club: €28,000 for sports equipment for juniors
  • Scouting Ireland 16th Kildare: €9,859 for the purchase of kayaks and changing benches
  • Setanta Boxing and fitness academy: €1,827 for body composition analyser for boxers
  • St. Bridgets Pitch and Putt Club: €26,808 for a machinery upgrade
  • St. Laurence’s Camogie Club: €8,618 for equipment and team kit
  • Association of Irish Riding Establishment CLG: €41,313 for the Safety of Clients in Riding Centres
  • Dressage Ireland Ltd: €15,566 for transport and first aid equipment
  • Horse Sport Ireland: €55,205 for the purchase of Olympic standard showjumping fences
  • Volleyball Association of Ireland CLG T/A Volleyball Ireland: €2,051 for the Kildare VC youth development project
