The ceremonies, the 17th this year, will see people from 143 countries living across the 32 Irish counties conferred as Irish citizens.
Further ceremonies are planned for later in the year. This year alone, 11,417 people have been conferred with Irish citizenship.
Some 20,000 citizenship applications were processed in 2023 and nearly 16,000 decisions have been made in the first half of this year.
Retired Justice Paddy McMahon will administer the Declaration of Fidelity to the Irish Nation and Loyalty to the State in his capacity as The Presiding Officer.
Minister Helen McEntee, Minister Joe O’Brien, and Minister Neale Richmond will attend the ceremonies as representatives of government.
“Today, at the Convention Centre Dublin, thousands of people will undertake a life changing journey and become an Irish Citizen”, said Minister McEntee.
The Minister for Justice added: “Having had the privilege of attending many Citizenship ceremonies, it fills me with joy being able to share this special day with so many people”, she said.
“I would like to congratulate all our new citizens and wholeheartedly thank them for their contribution and commitment to Irish society. I have no doubt that they will continue to contribute to making Ireland a more diverse and vibrant place to live.”
“As Minister with responsibility for Integration, one of my key goals is to enhance inclusion and ensure equity for migrants”, Minister O’Brien said ahead of the ceremony.
“I would like to thank all of our new citizens for choosing Ireland as their home, and for contributing so much to our nation”, he said.
“It is an honour to attend today’s ceremony and to welcome our new Irish citizens.”
Significant changes have been made to accelerate the citizenship process in Ireland by the Citizenship Division.
Applications can now be made through an online digital platform and online payments and eVetting have been facilitated.
To date, approximately 180,000 people have been granted Irish citizenship since 2011.
The year with the highest number of new Irish citizens is 2012, which saw 19,539 people being conferred.
According to figures from the Department of Justice, the nationalities with the most applicants to Monday’s ceremony are India (502), the United Kingdom (338) and Brazil (293).
The counties in which the highest number of applications were made are Dublin (1554), Cork (333), Meath (172) and Limerick (122).
