Three of the four Irish players hoping to secure an NFL contract have signed with a US-based sports agency, it has been revealed.

Former Monaghan All Star goalkeeper Rory Beggan, Down youngster Charlie Smyth as well as former Connacht rugby player Darragh Leader have signed on with Pro Star Sports, in what could be a sign that they could soon be taken on by an NFL side.

President of Pro Star Sports Paul Sheehy, who is a NFLPA Certified Contract Advisor confirmed the news on X, formerly known as Twitter overnight.

Sheehy also confirmed that the trio would be kicking at a ‘pro day’ on March 20, where they will be given another chance to demonstrate their skills to interested franchises.

The trio competed at the Combine with coach Tadhg Leader reporting strong interest from NFL sides after their performances in Indianapolis earlier this month. They had been expected to return home but opted to remain in the US.

Wicklow goalkeeper Mark Jackson, who also performed at the Combine, wasn’t mentioned in the post.

From next season, each of the 32 NFL sides is required to have at least one international player on their books, aiding the Irish group’s efforts to win a contract.

On their website Pro Star sports state they have over 35 years of experience representing clients in the NFL.
