Data centre provider Equinix has announced a new partnership with quantum technology company Quside, which will give Irish businesses access to new cybersecurity solutions.
The quantum cryptography system, known as “entropy”, generates random number sequences, making them completely unpredictable.
This makes it harder for bad actors to predict patterns and hack into systems.
Quantum computing uses quantum mechanics to solve problems too complex for traditional computers.
Quantum mechanics studies the behavior of nature at the scale of atoms and subatomic particles.
“Advanced cyber defences such as Quside’s quantum cryptography are becoming increasingly necessary to defend businesses in Ireland, and around the world, from bad actors,” said Peter Lantry, Managing Director, Equinix Ireland.
“Access to this latest cutting-edge solution comes at a time when the need for strong, reliable cybersecurity is at an all-time high,” he added.
Equinix has previously announced quantum partnerships with Oxford Quantum Computing and Alice & Bob.
