Tailteann Cup Group 2, round two

Wexford v Antrim (Saturday, Chadwicks Wexford Park, 4pm)

ANTRIM will be hoping Naomh Mhuire’s Ruairí McCann has his shooting boots packed once more as they make the lengthy journey to Chadwicks Wexford Park.

Although the returning Conor Sweeney grabbed many of the headlines in Belfast, The Saffrons’ ace finished with two goals. Adam Loughran’s return from injury is a timely boost for Andy McEntee also.

They might well need a few goals this time again, with Wexford looking increasingly confident as the year goes on.

A six-point defeat to Sligo was hardly unexpected, but it was far from a grudge match, as the teams combined for 4-36.

Glen Malone is a man Antrim will be keen on keeping tabs on, as he began the Tailteann Cup as strongly as he finished the League, netting in the defeat to the Yeats’ County.

And the Yellow Bellies will be eager to earn a crucial victory on their home patch. Otherwise they will face what looks likely to be a winner-takes-all clash with Tipperary at a nominated neutral venue.

Even a point would be enough to secure progression for the away side, but top spot and a home quarter-final will be Andy McEntee’s aim, especially after a run to the last four in 2023.

Odds H: 13/8 D: 7/1 A: 8/13
