In the end, the journey didn’t have the finale that Tomás Ó Sé and his players would have desired at O’Moore Park in Portlaoise, but the Kerry U-20 football manager couldn’t have been more proud of this group of young lads afterwards.

From their four-game passage to a Munster title, to the epic All-Ireland semi-final victory over Meath last week, the Kingdom eventually just came up short against an excellent Tyrone outfit in the decider. Such an enjoyable voyage ran aground close to the shore, but they certainly died with their boots on.
