US senate committee demands to see details of Pfizer’s Irish tax deals

Senator’s move expands pharma probe, as he claims Pfizer paid just 5.3pc tax in 2020

A powerful congressional committee in Washington DC has demanded that drug giant Pfizer disclose detailed information about its Irish tax affairs, as part of an investigation by the US senate into ‘big pharma’ tax strategies.

“Has Pfizer signed any tax incentive agreements with the government of Ireland related to its operations in Ireland, or any income Pfizer locates in Ireland for tax purposes?” Democratic senator Ron Wyden, chair of the senate finance committee, wrote to Pfizer CEO Dr Albert Bourla last Monday.
