AMBIENTE FRIENDLY

BE Friendly. Connections forked out 100,000 euros to supplement him after his excellent second in the Derby at Epsom. That’s the strongest form on show and came after his easy Lingfield Derby Trial win when the ground was much quicker. There should be more to come and he’ll be right there.

EUPHORIC

EU must be joking. He was a pacemaker for City Of Troy in the Derby at Epsom and went from the front when Los Angeles won the Leopardstown Trial. He’s here to make sure there’s a good gallop.

GROSVENOR SQUARE

SQUARE deal. Ended last season with a Group 3 win in the mud at Leopardstown but ran no race when well beaten in the Chester Vase on comeback. He should be better for that outing and can improve over what should be an ideal distance.

KEEPER’S HEART

Didn’t run badly in a Leopardstown Listed contest earlier this month when seeing out this trip well enough. Needs a massive step forward from that to be winning a Classic.

LOS ANGELES

LOS to win. Good winner of Leopardstown Trial before a good third in the Derby at Epsom when up with a fast pace longer than any other runner. Looks the ideal type for this race with more improvement to come. Clear pick of the Aidan O’Brien team.

MATSURI

This son of Sea The Stars is bred to be a champion and had eight lengths in hand when winning a Leicester maiden last time. This is a huge step up in class but he looks very classy and trainer Roger Varian is confident of a big run.

SUNWAY

WAY to go. He won a French Group 1 in the mud as a juvenile and finished with a real rattle in the French Derby last time. That was over 1m2f and this trip promises to suit him a lot better. Improvement needed but could sneak on to the podium.

THE EUPHRATES

RATES lowly. He was a fair fifth in the Group 2 King Edward VII at Royal Ascot last time when staying well enough. This Frankel colt needs to step up massively from that to strike.

Templegate’s Irish Derby tip

AMBIENTE FRIENDLY was beaten only by City Of Troy in the Derby at Epsom and can land the Irish Derby.

James Fanshawe’s star travelled sweetly into the final furlong but was just outclassed late on. Connections have paid to supplement him for this and they can win that money back.

Los Angeles was a place behind him at Epsom when up with the brisk pace. He is bred to stay and won’t be easy to pass.

Matsuri is taking a big leap from a Leicester maiden but looked classy and he’s definitely bred to excel.
