Castle GC pair David and Daniel O’Beirne captured the 2024 All-Ireland Father and Son, sponsored by Keary’s Motor Group, at Castle Golf Club yesterday.

They beat another Castle pairing of Patrick and Jack Conlon in an absorbing final that went to additional holes.

The O’Beirnes seemed in control of the final when three up after 14, but the Conlons struck back and managed to level the match on the 17th.

The O’Beirne pairing, who had a shot on the last, managed to salvage a half and the match headed down the 19th where the O’Beirnes’ solid play saw them walk away with the spoils.

190 pairs played in the qualifying rounds the previous weekend, following which 22 all-Castle pairings and 42 visiting pairs went head-to-head in Matchplay throughout the week, on the storied south Dublin golf course.

“It was a great golfing week with lots of friendships renewed and new friends made,” said Castle Golf Club Chairman Michael O’Neill. “We look forward to 2025.”
