Let’s cut to the chase. The ‘All-Stars’ football team that you see on these pages will never come to pass – firstly because this is a very subjective business, and secondly because this selector is not an actual selector this year.

There’s a third reason, far more significant than the above. The All-Ireland semi-finals haven’t even been played yet; and for many years the shape of our All-Stars 15 has been heavily influenced by what happens from here on in.
