Businesses warn of ‘devastation’ for capital’s trade if council goes ahead with traffic plan

An economic impact assessment of Dublin City Council’s new transport plan, commissioned by businesses opposed to the changes, claims it will lead to a reduction of €141m in retail spending in the city centre in 2028.
The assessment, prepared for the Dublin City Centre Traders Alliance (DCCTA), also estimates the traffic plan could result in the lost of 1,787 retail jobs, and a €41m loss to the Exchequer.
