What Pádraic Joyce texted to Kieran McGeeney isn’t exactly in the same realm of mystery as what Mick Mackey said to Christy Ring all those years ago, and in the context of his post-game media briefing last Sunday evening it is much easier to fill in the blanks.

The Galway manager told of messaging his Armagh counterpart on the Sunday evening of their All-Ireland group-stage draw in Markievicz Park but the content of the message was not something he was prepared to disclose, exhorting his audience to put the question to McGeeney instead.
