Gus Lewis has been appointed as the new Head of Commercial and Brand at Basketball Ireland.

He joins the sport following over five years with the Football Association of Ireland, where he held the role of Partnerships Account Manager.

He managed key international team sponsorships for the Association, working with high-profile brands such as Sky, Castore, Diageo, and Cadbury.

He also led commercial delivery at senior international match days.

Before that he worked with Teneo and also serves as a match delegate for European Professional Club Rugby across their two premier competitions.

He holds a Master’s degree in Sports Management from UCD and a degree in Commerce and Hispanic Studies from UCC.

Gus was named as one of our Sport for Business PwC 30 Under 30 Young Leaders of the Future in 2021.

“I am thrilled to be joining Basketball Ireland at a very exciting time for the sport and its members,” said Lewis.

“This is an organisation with ambitious targets for the future, impressive plans for a new National Basketball Arena and extensive potential for commercial growth.”

“I look forward to working with John Feehan, Basketball Ireland’s staff, current sponsors and future partners to continue this upward trajectory for Irish basketball both on and off the court.”

“Gus’s addition will be a real asset to Basketball Ireland,” added Feehan.

“He has a proven track record of working successfully with some of the biggest domestic and international brands in his previous role and brings an ambition and vision for Irish basketball that matches our own.”

“His appointment is a critical step as we continue to work towards improving our revenue streams and constructing a new National Basketball Arena – facilitating the growth of basketball at all levels into the future.”

Sport for Business will host its annual Sponsorship Showcase event in Dublin on Thursday morning, October 10th. This is one of many events planned for the remainder of 2024.
