In the foyer of the Vila Vita Parc resort and spa, a signed poster lets me know that Formula One racing driver Max Verstappen has stayed here but I’m more interested in the traditional tiled walls and botanical art.

Along the corridors, works by Algarvian environmentalist and textile artist Vanessa Barragao hint at Vila Vita Parc’s ethos. This five-star resort, a member of the Leading Hotels of the World group, was nominated as Europe’s leading green resort in the 2020 World Travel Awards.
