The M50 has been fully closed off at the junction to allow them to deal with the crash.

Dublin Fire Brigade posted on X: “The #M50 is fully closed at J16 Southbound Cherrywood as we respond to a multiple vehicle collision.”

LiveDrive added: “Collision on the M50 southbound after J16 Cherrywood blocking both lanes. Traffic is using the hard shoulder to pass.”

It later said the collision has been “completely cleared” but that “heavy delays remain” in the area.

Elsewhere on the M50, Dublin Fire Brigade is also responding to a scene at Junction 3 northbound, where a car has been overturned.
