While Leo Varadkar’s literary agent Max Edwards is only starting to do the rounds of Irish publishers selling rights to the former taoiseach’s memoir, a former Fine Gael cabinet colleague has beaten him into print.

Running from Office is the title of what publishers are calling the first “honest insider” political memoir in 20 years. It’s been penned by Eoghan Murphy, who was housing minister from 2017 to 2020, and who bowed out of Irish politics the following year.
