With no end in sight for the conclusion of Divisions 1, 2, 3A or 3B, with last-round and play-off fixtures still outstanding, the focus now turns to championship. All league competitions should have been finished weeks ago, which would allow teams to focus on their upcoming championship. As a result of too many games, the fixture schedule has been all over the place.
Some teams were forced to play three games in seven days with no promotion hopes or relegation fears, meaning that the fixtures were just played for the sake of it. Other games were called off due to players from various football teams participating in the Louth senior hurling final.
