A few weeks watching club football has felt like liberation from the stultifying inter-county scene

After a stultifying summer of inter-county action, the last few weeks have felt like glorious liberation as we’ve hit the road for the club championships here in the Kingdom.

There’s been something restorative almost about it. Instead of despairing at the state of the game, it reminded us why we fell in love with it in the first place: it’s fun, and it’s supposed to be fun.
