Q As an Irish SME owner, I’ve been slow to implement changes in our company’s sustainability and decarbonisation efforts, mainly due to time constraints and, to be honest, a lack of enthusiasm. I’m all for protecting the environment but I have never been convinced it is a key concern for my small business where time and money are already tight. Frankly, I’m not sure anything we do can really have much effect.

However, with upcoming government changes emphasising sustainability – and what I see as growing moves by banks to link the cost of finance to green targets – I want to improve our company’s efforts in the area in so far as we can. But I’m unsure where to start.
