Mickey Harte has a new managerial role, which is not unexpected, but the destination is a slight shock

Never a dull moment. Only a month after leaving the Derry job for which he looked and felt such an awkward fit – and possibly only days before a replacement appointment that will generate tremours for different reasons – Mickey Harte pops up on, of all the unexpected places, offaly.gaa.ie.

On Offaly’s X account, there he was, smiling that familiar grin, flanked by Michael Duignan, with Declan Kelly on the far side, and the three of them hoisting a vintage Offaly jersey, a cheery pictorial declaration of a done deal.
