FR CASEY’S have reached the knock-out stages of the Irish Wire Products Limerick senior football championship after recording a comfortable 1-15 to 1-5 victory over Kildimo-Pallaskenry on a wet night at Quaid Park, Coolyroe on Thursday.

A run of three successive group wins has seen Fr Casey’s guarantee themselves a place in the quarter-finals of the championship at least with still one round of fixtures to go.

Casey’s sit in second spot in the table, one point behind table toppers Newcastle West who occupy the semi-final place at present. Fr Casey’s face another side bound for the knock-out stages, Galtee Gaels, in their final fixture, while Newcastle West take on bottom side Ballysteen.

The Abbeyfeale took a firm grip on their Round 4 outing against Kildimo-Pallaskenry in the opening half.

Fr Casey’s racked up 1-6 without reply in the opening 19 minutes to leave their opponents firmly on the back foot.

The Caeey’s goal arrived in the 10th minute when team captain Daniel Daly centred for Oisin Woulfe to finish to the net.

The impressive Eliah Riordan, with two points, including a ’45, Rory O’Brien with a brace, Mark McCarthy, Eoghan O’Connell (mark) accounted for the Casey’s points.

Garry Sheehan opened the Kildimo-Pallaskenry account with a point in the 20th minute. However, Casey’s reeled off the last three scores of the half without reply, through two points from Adrian Enright and one from topscorer Riordan, after good work by Martin Scannell, to comfortably lead 1-9 to 0-1 at half-time.

To their credit, Kildimo-Pallaskenry, who have secured their senior status for 2025 by virtue of their opening round win over Ballysteen, produced an improved second half showing as the rain continued to spill down.

A second Sheehan point opened the scoring in the second half in the 37th minute. Fr Casey’s managed six points in the second period, while their opponents scored 1-4 in total, with the goal coming from a Peter Nash penalty on the stroke of full-time after Ross Allen was fouled.
