The new Dublin facility will play a critical role in the organisation’s digital transformation goals and hiring is expected in a number of areas, such as software development, automotive technology and adtech.

US audio entertainment company SiriusXM has today (29 August) announced plans to develop a Technology Centre of Excellence in Dublin, Ireland. The organisation intends to hire for a number of positions and Dublin-based employees will likely play a critical role in the institution’s digital transformation goals.

SiriusXM is an audio entertainment platform that was founded in 2008 by Martine Rothblat and David Margolese and is headquartered in New York, US. The Dublin-based workforce will focus mainly on software development, automotive technology and engineering, adtech, data science, and analytics.

While it is currently unknown how many roles are being advertised, SiriusXM has provided some detail regarding the responsibilities of new hires. Those recruited in software will oversee the development and execution of innovative software and its capabilities.

Professionals employed in automotive technology and engineering will be charged with developing, testing and supporting SiriusXM’s software and platforms for in-vehicle services, consumer electronics and emerging businesses. Lastly, adtech, data science and analytic team members will work on modernising and scaling the companies advertisements and consumer engagement.

The Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Peter Burke, TD, welcomed the announcement saying he was pleased that the organisation had chosen Dublin as the location for the new Technology Centre of Excellence and that the company would avail of Ireland’s talented professionals.

Michael Lohan, CEO of IDA Ireland echoed this statement, saying “SiriusXM’s decision to establish a new Technology Centre of Excellence in Dublin highlights Ireland’s attractiveness as a destination for global expansion. This investment is a testament to Ireland’s pro-enterprise economy and to the specialised and skilled workforce that we have in Dublin and across the country.”

SiriusXM received support from the Irish Government through IDA Ireland. Recently, the organisation also announced their support for the Galway- based, €14m PennEngineering expansion, which will see the creation of 70 new jobs across the next five years.
