Massachusetts State Police arrested a former NFL player early Sunday after he allegedly urinated on another passenger during a flight to Dublin.

40-year-old Gosder Cherilus, who played for the Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts and Tampa Bay Buccaneers between 2008 and 2016, was charged with disorderly conduct and disturbing a plane crew after his Delta flight was rerouted back to Boston. Authorities demanded Cherilus leave the plane once it landed in the U.S., but he became “irate” and “uncooperative,” Massachusetts State Police (MSP) told The National Desk (TND).

Eventually, authorities escorted Cherilus out and took him into custody, according to MSP.

A Delta spokesperson told TND that Cherilus was “unruly.” The airline apologized to the passengers of the flight.

“Delta has zero tolerance for unlawful behavior and will cooperate with law enforcement to that end,” the spokesperson said.

The rest of the passengers boarded other flights Sunday to continue on to Dublin. Cherilus will appear in East Boston District Court for an arraignment Monday.

The 40-year-old played for Boston College from 2005-07 before the Lions drafted him with the 17th overall pick in 2008. Once with Detroit, Cherilus started 71 of 75 games played before later signing a five-year, $35 million contract with the Colts. He only played two years before Indianapolis released him and ultimately finished his career with the Buccaneers.
