Lidl Ireland opened its newest store in Newcastle, Co. Dublin on Thursday with the help of Dublin Ladies Gaelic Football (LGFA) Captain Carla Rowe.

The new opening brings Lidl’s total Irish stores to 179, with 52 stores in Dublin alone.

Crowds gathered early on Thursday morning to be the first shoppers in the door of the new store on Main Street Upper, and enjoy opening day entertainment and in-store offers.

The highly anticipated new store offers customers a premium shopping experience with a modern fit out including high ceilings, wide aisles and a large sales floor.

The first ten shoppers through the doors received complimentary vouchers to shop Lidl’s famous products and middle aisle favourites.

To mark the opening of the store, the team in Newcastle welcomed John Kinsella from the neighbouring St. Finian’s Community Hall to accept a donation of €1,000 in Lidl vouchers.

The volunteer-led group run the local facility for the benefit of the whole community, providing a welcoming space for everyone to socialise and avail of support.

‘A Very Proud Moment’

Speaking at the opening, store manager Dawn Hayden said, “We’ve been looking forward to finally opening the doors of our brand new, state-of-the-art store here in Newcastle.

“I’m thrilled to see customers our in force today and to feel the hugely warm welcome from everyone.

“Newcastle is a booming community, and this new store opening has been highly anticipated by local residents.

“So we’re delighted to welcome everyone to this unrivalled shopping experience with Ireland’s best value discount retailer.

“With this new store opening, we have a brand-new team of 30 colleagues, and it’s been a very proud moment for us as we’ve worked hard behind the scenes to get the store ready.

“It’s great to see the team’s hard work pat off with a successful opening today.

“Many thanks to Carla Rowe for supporting us today and giving us that star power!”

Dublin LGFA Captain Carla Rowe added, “The atmosphere here at the opening of Lidl Newcastle has been fantastic, it’s great to see local shoppers out enjoying the new store and snapping up those opening day bargains.

“Newcastle is really thriving at the moment, so the new Lidl store is a significant addition to the town and a great place to shop.

“I’d encourage everyone to come down and check out the store.”
