A free kids comedy event will take place at Farmleigh House on September 15

A free children’s comedy festival is taking place in the Phoenix Park later this month.

Punch Lion and the Office of Public Works will host a number of stand-up comedy shows, workshops, amusing storytelling, silly circus performers, DJs, and games on Sunday, September 15.

Punch Lion produces stand-up comedy shows for children and facilitates comedy workshops for children and teenagers. They co-produced shows in the first dedicated comedy festival for children in Ireland with The Ark FunnyFest in 2014.

Performers confirmed for the stand-up comedy shows this year include Steve Cummins (Laughter Lounge), Paul Tylak (The Secret of Kells), Reuben (RTEjr), Sharon Mannion (Comedy Cellar), Graeme Singleton (Dublin Comedy Improv), Diane O’Connor (Cherry Comedy), Danny Kehoe (Bridget & Eamon) and Kevin Gildea (Father Ted).

Kelly Shatter (Stoke Improv) will facilitate the comedy workshops for children aged 5 to 7 and 8 to 12. Fighting Words will facilitate a writing workshop, while the Fanzini Brothers will present their Impossible Circus.

Dublin City Libraries will be bringing Library in the Community, to the event. The Farmleigh Farmers Market will also run on the day with a variety of food stands to choose from, including many award-winning food producers and vendors as well as locally made craft products.

The family-friendly comedy event will take place at Farmleigh House in the Phoenix Park from 12pm to 5pm on Sunday, September 15.

Stand-up comedy shows are recommended for children aged 6 plus and children must attend with an adult. Comedy workshops are limited to 15 participants and are on a first come, first served basis.
