SAN LUIS OBISPO – With a fall slate highlighted by a visit to British Open rotation course Royal Lytham & St. Annes, participation in Wake Forest’s Lyon’s Links College Invitational at Royal Dublin Golf Club and the resumption of the program’s own Preserve Golf Club Collegiate in Carmel Valley, Calif., the Cal Poly men’s golf program begins the 2024-25 season at Toledo’s Inverness Intercollegiate Sept. 9-10.

Returning five letterwinners and the program’s top two scorers from last season’s squad that finished third at the Big West Championship, Cal Poly – following Monday and Tuesday participation at Toledo’s Inverness Intercollegiate – begins a two-week tour of England and Ireland.

As part of a Liverpool team tour, Cal Poly will play Royal Lytham & St. Annes, site of 11 British Opens. Relocating to Ireland for the second half of the tour, Cal Poly enjoys a Monday, Sept. 16 match play event with Maynooth University at Portmarnock Golf Club. Wake Forest’s Sept. 18-20 Lyon’s Links College Invitational at Royal Dublin Golf Club finalizes the tour.

Cal Poly’s fall slate continues with California’s Oct. 7-8 Alister MacKenzie Invitational at The Meadow Club (Fairfax, Calif.) before the program’s Preserve Golf Club Collegiate at The Preserve (Carmel Valley, Calif.).

Cal Poly’s returning lineup is highlighted by senior Baron Szeto, who recorded a 72.9 stroke average last season, posted eight rounds in the 60s and two top 10 finishes – including a fourth place showing at April’s Big West Championship. Szeto previously earned a share of the title at the 2023 Big West Championship.

Also returning for the Mustangs are senior Jackson Parrish, who enjoyed a 73.3 stroke average last season and three top 20 finishes; senior Parker Mapes, who posted a 74.0 average; sophomore Louis Pilod, who led the Mustangs with a 72.7 average, recorded 10 rounds under par, eight in the 60s and captured a share of first at Air Force’s Falcon Invitational in his first collegiate event, and sophomore Reese Sato, who recorded a 73.4 average in 12 rounds. Junior Sean Lehman, who competed in 12 rounds during his 2022-23 sophomore season before redshirting last year, also returns.
