Dublin’s first ice skating trail is set to open this festive season.

Ice Skating Dún Laoghaire is back but with a brand new ice skating experience – Alpine Skate Trail Dún Laoghaire.

The ice skating experience is inspired by the hugely popular trail in Fota House & Gardens, Cork, which has attracted 300,000 skaters over the past three years.

Now, for the first time in Dublin, Iceskating.ie is bringing the unique experience to Dún Laoghaire harbour.

Alpine Skate Trail Dún Laoghaire will be open from 1st November to 12th January.

The trail is said to be “an unforgettable skating adventure” set against a backdrop of Alps-style spruce trees, festoon lighting, and snow-covered chalets.

Bill Cremin, Managing Director at Cool Running Events, said: “We are delighted to bring Alpine Skate Trail to Dún Laoghaire harbour this festive season.

“The concept of a skating trail is very popular in countries like Canada and Austria, where ice skating is accessible year round.

“With our ice skating experiences, we like to imagine the unimaginable and then bring that to life. We did this in Fota, Cork in 2019 and spent the last 3 years developing the trail.

“We believe now is the right time to introduce it to Dublin skaters and show them what they’ve been missing out on.

“We encourage everyone to give it a go once, but we can’t guarantee you won’t be back. We love seeing the same faces return to us every year to don the skates.”

A limited amount of Early Bird tickets are now on sale for €14 on iceskating.ie.

Ice Skating Blanchardstown will also be returning this winter, with its rink opening from 15th November until 26th January.
