Local reps in Stoneybatter say they’re still not sure what happened to a defibrillator that’s gone missing.
A defibrillator, paid for by the local community in Stoneybatter, has gone missing.
The life-saving device was first installed, in a phone box, five years ago when people in the area banded together to see it introduced.
But not the vital piece of equipment gone missing.
Local rep, Janice Boylan, says although people have come forward they’re still not sure what happened.
“We became aware of it yesterday, and a post went up asking for people to share it,” she said.

“A couple of people came back thinking it was used in an incident that happened in Smithfield yesterday, but that turned out to be the one from the Lighthouse, so it wasn’t our defibrillator.
“We haven’t got a clue what has happened to it, but the most important thing is that we get it back and we get it back in working order.
“People are so used to it being there now, that if anything happens, they know to instantly go down there to try to get the defibrillator back to the to the person that would need it.
“This is going to absolutely jeopardise somebody now, because although people are aware that it’s not there, at the moment, in a blind panic, if you think that something is there, and you automatically think about it, you will go down to try to retrieve it, to help a person, and lo and behold, it’s not there.
“You’re actually causing deaths, because this is such an absolute life saving piece of equipment.
“It’s absolutely heartbreaking to think somebody would just take it and not have returned it. We’re absolutely devastated.”
