PAW PATROL

This comes as firefighters from two Dublin stations were called out to assist the rescue of a puppy that was stranded in a pond.

Firefighters from Tallaght and Dolphins Barn were called out to help the DSPCA with a water rescue.

The stranded dog was able to be transported off an island and given care by the animal shelter.

Dublin Fire Brigade said: “Firefighters from Tallaght and Dolphins Barn fire stations were called to assist @DublinSPCA with a stranded pooch in a pond.

“Water rescue trained firefighters were able to transport the dachshund off an island and into the care of DSPCA Inspectors. Anything is paws-ible.”

The DSPCA is now appealing for the owner of the dog to come forward as they described it as “nervous and exhausted.”

The dachshund has now been named Ducky, with the DSPCA calling the incident a “big rescue for a little dog”.
