An ESB power outage in the North County Dublin area resulted in a loss of power in Terminal 2 of Dublin Airport, affecting its operations on Sunday morning which led to flight delays.
A power failure impacted the airport’s backup generators, which caused delays for passengers checking in at Terminal 2, creating long queues inside and outside the terminal.
DAA has confirmed that most flights continued as normal throughout the incident.
“DAA apologises to all passengers who were inconvenienced by this morning’s issues,” the Dublin Airport spokesperson has said in a statement on X, formerly Twitter.
“Dublin Airport’s teams worked to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and to ensure the return of power to T2,” they added.
They confirmed that the queues continue to ease but some delays are still likely for the remainder of Sunday morning.
“As always, passengers seeking updates regarding specific flights should contact their airline directly,” DAA added.

While the power issue has now been resolved at the airport, approximately 34,000 customers are currently without power in the North Dublin area.
ESB Networks said a power outage is impacting parts of North Dublin following a “significant fault” this morning.
They also confirmed this included sections of Dublin Airport briefly losing power earlier today.
“ESB Networks crews mobilised immediately following reports of the fault and are currently investigating the cause while also carrying out the necessary repair works,” an ESB spokesperson said.
“We apologise to all of those impacted for the disruption caused,” they added.
