Florida State football headed to Dublin for the Aer Lingus College Football Classic vs. Georgia Tech looking to move past a sour ending to the 2023 season.
However, the Yellow Jackets had other plans as the team projected to finish ninth in the ACC Preseason Poll pulled off the upset over the No. 10 Seminoles Saturday at Aviva Stadium.
And the Yellow Jackets did it in walk-off fashion as kicker Aidan Birr hit a 44-yard field goal to seal a 24-21 victory for Georgia Tech and ultimately make the flight back to Tallahassee for the Seminoles a long one. Florida State did not have the ball for the last 6:33 of the game as Georgia Tech ran the clock down on the ground.

Florida State ended the 2023 season like cowards and started the 2024 season getting bullied.

Man, tough loss for the Noles over in Ireland to a good GT team.
The great news is with the new 12 team playoff, there’s still plenty of opportunities to climb back into the bracket. Regroup and keep battlin!

Per our elite @ESPNStatsInfogrouo: Florida State was 17-1 in season openers as a Top-10 team against unranked opponents, with the lone loss coming in 1989 against Southern Miss. Haynes King joins Brett Favre in pulling the rare upset.

All I’m saying is that this probably isn’t how you want to start your season after spending the entire offseason bragging about how you’re too good for your conference

It was pretty obvious FSU was going to take a step back after what they lost off last years team, but that was shockingly bad from the Noles.
