Szeto Tied for Fourth After First Round of Lyon Links Invitational – Cal Poly

DUBLIN, Ireland — Starting its overseas trip to Ireland, Cal Poly senior men’s golfer Baron Szeto kicked it off with an excellent first round at the Lyon Links Invitational at the Royal Dublin Golf Club by shooting a three under par 69 to help Cal Poly in third.

The event, hosted by Wake Forest, features the Mustangs, Demon Deacons, Elon and Maynooth University in Ireland. The Mustangs finished the first round one under par as a team, two shots behind Elon and seven behind Wake Forest.

Three other Mustangs are in the top 12 after the first round. Freshman Rafa Guerrero is tied for ninth at one under, while sophomores Reese Sato and Leo Metzger are tied for 12th at even par.

Freshman Nolan Kuszyk and sophomore Louis Pilod are both tied for 17th at one over par. Senior Parker Mapes is tied for 21st at two over par, senior Jackson Parrish is tied for 26th at four over, junior Sean Lehman is tied for 30th at five over, and freshman Luke Montoya is in 35th at eight over.

The second of three rounds continues Thursday.
