DUBLIN, Ireland– After another sunny day at Royal Dublin on Thursday, the Wake Forest men’s golf team had another impressive showing, extending their lead after two rounds of the Lyon’s Links Invitational and is in position for their first team and in contention for individual titles of the season.

Senior Jakob Melin finished his round strong at 3-under-par, tallying four birdies betweens holes 14 to 18 and carding a 69.
Both Meisel and Melin hold a share of fourth place.

Playing as an individual, graduate student DJ Francey fought back in round two, moving 12 spots up the leaderboard Thursday. Starting with an eagle on hole No. 2, Francey ended his second round tied for ninth place, carding a 68 (-4).
Senior Scotty Kennon had a nearly blemish free day, carding only one bogey and three birdies, scoring another round of 70 (-2). Kennon enters round three tied for sixth place and is one of three Demon Deacons in contention for the individual title.
Individuals senior Collin Adams and freshman Jorge Hao both carded rounds of 74 (+2). Adams is currently tied for ninth while Hao is tied for 20th. Overall, six Demon Deacons are in the top 10 on the individual leaderboard.
With plenty to play for going into the final round, the Lyon’s Links College Invitational will tee off at approximately 7:30 a.m. (IST)/ 2:30 a.m. (EST) on Friday. Hao will be the first off the tee for the Deacs at 7:50 a.m. (IST) / 2:50 a.m. (EST).
From Coach Haas
“It was beautiful playing today by everyone. Of our counters today, we made 26 birdies and 12 bogies. We have always made a ton of birdies and if we can eliminate the big numbers which we did today we will be a very very good team this year. We played the last four holes of our counters in five-under-par. That is what we love to see, closing out the day and widening the lead. There is lots of golf left so we need to continue to push ourselves to become better players each and every day. Go Deacs!”
