Sixteen people have been charged following protests in Dublin city yesterday.
The charges include possession of a knife, assault and criminal damage.
100 Gardaí were drafted in yesterday evening to deal with anti and pro-immigration protests in the city centre.
The Public Order Unit was also deployed when demonstrators blocked O’Connell Bridge during rush hour.
Some 22 people in total were arrested – 14 men and eight women – ranging in age from their 20s to their 60s.
Sixteen of them have since been charged to appear in court primarily for public order offences.
One man has already appeared before the courts. Three are due before Dublin District Court today.
While 13 others have been released with court appearances scheduled over the coming weeks.
Gardaí say the remainder of those arrested will be dealt with under the Adult Caution scheme.
