DUBLIN, IRELAND – The Elon University men’s golf team carded their tournament-low round in the final round with a 277 (-11) to finish second at the Lyons Links. Wake Forest hosted the tournament at the par-72, 7,289-yard, Royal Dublin Golf Club in Dublin, Ireland.
As a team, Elon carded a 54-hole total of 845 (-19) to finish second behind Wake Forest who shot a 31-under par 833.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Juan Callejo Ropero was Elon’s top finisher with a 212 (-4). The senior carded a 77 (+5) in his final round to tie for sixth place for his first top-10 finish of the season.
- Garrett Risner jumped up six spots on the individual leaderboard after shooting a 70 (-2) in his final round to finish tied for eighth with a 3-under par 213.
- Jack Wieler carded his best round of the tournament with a 5-under par 67 in the final round to finish tied for 11th place with a 214 (-2).
- Matthew Doyle finished in solo 19thplace on the individual leaderboard shooting a 54-hole total of 219 (+3).
- Landon Durham shot improved his score by 10 strokes in his final round carding a 68 (-4) to move up 13 spots on the individual leaderboard. Durham finished with a 220 (+4) to tie for 20th place.
- Bronson Myers shot another round of even-par 72 to tie for 20th place. He carded his tournament-best five birdies in his final round including back-to-back birdies on holes 16 and 17.
- As individuals, Bizzell Pate tied for 23rd with a 221 (+5) while Timmy Gannon finished in solo 34thplace with a 233 (+17).
UP NEXT
The Phoenix will be back in action on October 6-7, heading to Estero, Fla. to compete at the West Bay Collegiate.
