DUBLIN, Ireland- The Wake Forest men’s golf team claimed their first title of the 2024-25 season on Friday, winning the Lyon’s Links Invitational by twelve strokes in Dublin, Ireland. This was the 46th win under the direction of head coach Jerry Haas

The Deacs finished the final round 31-under-par, turning in a 54-hole score of 833 and tying for ninth lowest 54-hole score to par in program history.

Four Deacs ended in the top-10 with all four of the counting players carding under-par rounds, including big third rounds from sophomore Kyle Haas, sophomore Tom Haberer, senior Scotty Kennon and junior Jakob Melin

Pacing the Deacs, Kyle Haas ended the Lyon’s Links Invitational in third place, tying his best career finish. Haas’s continued effort in round three included carding six birdies and finishing the tournament at 7-under-par (69-69-71).

Scotty Kennon claimed his first top-5 finish of his senior season (T4) and the third of his career. After a flawless back nine tallying two eagles and a birdie, the senior carded three rounds of 70 to end 6-under-par.

Junior Jakob Melin captured his first top-10 finish as a Demon Deacon, holding a share of fourth place. Additionally, sophomore Tom Haberer carded a final round of 67 (-5), this being the lowest score recorded for the Deacs throughout the Lyon’s Links Invitational, ending tied for sixth.

In his first tournament as a Deac, graduate student DJ Francey posted a solid final round tying for eleventh playing as an individual on the leaderboard at 2-under-par for the tournament.

Seniors Collin Adams and Marshall Meisel both had top-20 finishes, with Adams fishing in 13th and Meisel tied for 15th.

From Coach Haas:

“What a great week we had here in Ireland. Lyons Links did a wonderful job hosting at the beautiful and nostalgic Royal Dublin Golf Club. There was a lot of great golf by all of the participating teams and the weather was fantastic. We had a nice back nine by the team to seal the win! We could not do it without the help of everyone around Wake Forest golf, we are a big family and look out for each other all the time. It was a memorable experience for everyone. Go Deacs!”
