A major garda investigation is in place after the discovery of a body of a man at the Panda recycling facility in south Dublin this morning.

Gardaí are keeping an “open mind” on the grim discovery at this stage and foul play has not been ruled out.

“Gardaí are currently at the scene, in relation to the discovery of a body at a recycling centre in Ballymount, Dublin 24 this morning Friday 27th September, 2024,” a spokesman said.

“At approximately 6.40am this morning Gardaí were notified.

“The body of a white male was examined at the scene and has now been removed to the Dublin City Mortuary where a State post-mortem will take place in due course.

“The results of the post-mortem will determine the course of the investigation.

“The scene remains preserved and will be examined by Garda Technical Bureau.”
