The victim, 30s, was found by Gardai from Pearse Street station after they swooped on a flat on Bolton Street in north Dublin on Thursday night.

Once inside, they established that she had been tortured with a blow torch and burned with heated metals.

The victim suffered broken bones and burns across her body.

One source said: “This attack was absolutely horrific and the woman is lucky to be alive.

“Gardai came upon the attack by chance because they were looking for drugs.

“The location is regarded as a drug den and is a real cesspit.

“The woman had been through a terrifying ordeal and is now undergoing treatment.

“This is a classic example of the violence gangs commit against the most vulnerable members of our society.”

Gardai are probing the theory that the woman was targeted because she owed a debt.

SEVEN ARRESTED

Once discovered, the woman was then brought to the Mater Hospital where she remains in a serious condition.

The woman is also regarded as vulnerable.

The seven men, aged in their 20s, 30s and 50s, and the teenager are being questioned on suspicion of false imprisonment and assault causing harm.

The investigation is being run by District Detective Units at Pearse Street and the Bridewell.

It’s understood the chief suspects are all in their 20s with the juvenile aged 17.

The suspects are also known to Gardai for involvement in street level drug dealing

GARDA INVESTIGATION

In a statement, Gardai told the Irish Sun: “Gardai in Bridewell arrested 8 (eight) males in relation to an investigation into alleged false imprisonment of a female, aged in her 30s at a property in Bolton Street, Dublin 7 on the evening of Thursday 26th September, 2024.

“The eight males, (aged in their 20s, 30s , 50s and one juvenile) are all currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Garda stations in the Dublin region.

“Investigations ongoing.”
