FANS praised Adam McDonnell as the “nicest lad in our league” for his lovely gesture to the Bohemians Down Syndrome Futsal team.
The 27-year-old made a surprise appearance at the team’s training session ahead of the LOI Down Syndrome Futsal Festival on Sunday.

Bohemians shared a video of the moment to social media, with fans flocking to the comments to heap praise on the midfielder.
Robert said: “Adam is one of the nicest lads in our league and a quality player.
“Really enjoyed watching him when he played for us here @sligorovers”
Gary praised: “Look what that means to all those guys, do your heart good to see someone give something back to the community. Fair play”
And Stephen said: “Fair play Adam lovely gesture”
McDonnell and co will be bidding for a place in the FAI Cup final when they meet Derry City in the last four this Friday.
The Candystripes will be looking to get their hands back on the trophy that they won two years ago.
And veteran Ciaran Goll – whose only medal was that FAI Cup final – wants to make even more memories by making it to – and winning – the 2024 edition.
The 33-year-old explained: “I look back to two years ago when we won it, I was able to take my wee boy on to the pitch.
“He will be able to look back on that as well and say, ‘Daddy took me out on to the pitch’.
“He was just one, there is another wee boy now, he is only 17 months. Hopefully I can do it again with my other wee boy as well.
“It is more pictures and memories for them. Hopefully they can follow in my footsteps some day.”
After the Cup final two years ago — when City walloped Shelbourne 4-0 — the Foyleside club had a big reception where all great moments in Derry are commemorated.
Coll continued: “Even bringing that cup back to Derry, thousands outside the Guild Hall waiting on us, it was unbelievable.
“I remember walking up on a lorry on the back of the stage and I just got goosebumps.
“Hopefully we can bring it back to the city again for everyone, families, it would be a massive achievement again.”
Derry City are in contention for a domestic double this season, as they remain in the hunt for the Premier Division title.
Ruaidhri Higgins’ men are four points behind Shelbourne with a game in hand.
Shamrock Rovers, who face Damien Duff‘s men on Friday, are one point behind City in third and are level with Galway Utd in fourth.
