Dublin, Ga. — U.S. Senators Reverend Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff today announced infrastructure upgrades to strengthen economic development and support job creation in Laurens County.

Today, Sens. Ossoff and Warnock announced they are delivering over $2.9 million in Federal funding through the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration to the Dublin Laurens County Development Authority.

According to the Department of Commerce, the funding will support improvements to Laurens County’s sewer systems and roads, and aid in the construction of a regional detention pond that will serve a local automotive parts supplier, all supporting local job creation.

Federal funds will be matched with $1.1 million in local funds.

“Senator Warnock and I continue to support Georgia’s economic development — today, with Federal resources for water and roadway infrastructure improvements in Dublin that will support Georgia’s automotive industry. I thank President Biden, Vice President Harris, Secretary Raimondo, and Deputy Assistant Secretary Killingsworth for their assistance and support,” Sen. Ossoff said.

“This investment is great news for Laurens County, and Senator Ossoff and I will continue fighting to invest in infrastructure projects that strengthen our rural economies and improve the quality of life for Georgians in Dublin and communities across the state,” said Senator Reverend Warnock.

“The Biden-Harris Administration recognizes that infrastructure is key to building an economy that works for all Americans,” said Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo. “This investment will improve critical water and roadway infrastructure to support Georgia’s automotive sector, help boost critical workforce opportunities in Dublin, and create new jobs in the region.”

Sen. Ossoff continues working to bring investment and opportunity to Georgia’s communities.

In July, Sen. Ossoff helped introduce the bipartisan Pathways to Prosperity Act alongside Senators Reverend Raphael Warnock and Mike Braun (R-IN), which aims to strengthen job training and skills programs at community and technical colleges.

In April, Sen. Ossoff delivered resources to upgrade the Smith-Sibley Industrial Park in Milledgeville.

In March, Sens. Ossoff and Reverend Warnock announced a $500,000 Federal grant though the U.S. Department of Transportation for Macon-Bibb County’s Pleasant Hill Neighborhood, which is currently split by I-75.

This project was made possible by the regional planning efforts led by the Heart of Georgia Regional Commission (HOGARC). EDA funds HOGARC to bring together the public and private sectors to create an economic development roadmap to strengthen the regional economy, support private capital investment and create jobs.
