A father of two who shouted “I’ll get you” to a man he was arguing with on a Dublin city centre street has been jailed for a month.
Paul Bissett (37) made the threat after gardaí broke up the row.
Judge Gráinne Malone found Bissett guilty and sentenced him when he appeared in Dublin District Court.
Bissett, an electrician from Mourne Road, Drimnagh had pleaded not guilty to threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour.
Garda Dylan Hourihane said he was on duty at Wellington Quay on October 26 last year when he saw the accused and another man arguing aggressively outside a pub.
The pair were both squaring up to each other with their fists raised and gardaí separated them.
Bissett shouted aggressively at the other man: “I’ll get you, I don’t care who is here.”
Defence solicitor Julianne Hayden asked the judge to dismiss the charge, arguing there was insufficient evidence of intention to cause a breach of the peace.
The judge said the accused had a case to answer but Bissett did not go into evidence.
Bissett had previous public order convictions and had been given a suspended sentence previously.
“He can’t continue to break the law and assume there are no real consequences for him,” Judge Malone said.
