With Dublin in my heart, I founded the non-profit Above Beyond Leadership Education (ABLE), which has empowered hundreds of students to become future leaders. ABLE was honored to receive the ‘Organization of the Year’ award from the City of Dublin.
2. How long have you lived in Dublin?
I have lived in Dublin for over 14 years and have developed a deep connection with the community. Both of my children have grown up here, attending local schools and becoming integral members of the community. From Montessori preschool to Dublin High School, they’ve thrived in Dublin’s educational environment. My daughter is now a proud UCLA Bruin aspiring to be a lawyer, and my son is a senior in high school, competing nationally in trampoline gymnastics. My journey as a mother has shown me how Dublin is a city of diverse culture, rich opportunities, and a caring community where families can flourish.
3. What brought you here?
I am running for office because I am deeply grateful for the opportunities this country has provided for my family and me. With my children now older and more flexibility in my work schedule, I am eager to give back to the community. My background in engineering, technology, business, and finance has equipped me to address complex issues, maintain fiscal responsibility, and improve the local business environment. I am ready to lead with integrity and kindness.
4. How have you been involved in the community?
I have been deeply involved in the Dublin community through my role as Vice Mayor and as a city councilmember since 2020. Beyond my city council work, I serve on various boards, including Ava Community Energy, Alameda County Fire Department Advisory Committee, and the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) General Assembly. I also participate in the Alameda County Library Advisory Commission, the Liaison Advisory Committee for the Dublin Unified School District (DUSD). In these roles, I diligently prepare for meetings, actively participate in community events, and strive to represent the best interests of my constituents.
In addition to my official duties, I am an active volunteer founding the non-profit organization Above Beyond Leadership Education (ABLE) for about six years, which has raised and donated significant funds to various causes, including orphanages and libraries. We supported senior citizens by distributing food and help with gardening. Senior citizens are highly valued and important in our Dublin community, and we will continue to advocate for them.
I am also a Neighborhood Watch program volunteer, helping to connect the community with the police and keep our neighborhoods safe. As a mom of two, I am passionate about supporting the children of Dublin, being actively involved in local schools, serving as a room parent at Kolb Elementary School and as the VP of the Fallon Middle School PFC.
5. What do you feel are some of the biggest challenges facing Dublin? What are your plans for addressing them?
Dublin faces several challenges, and addressing them requires proven leadership skills, problem-solving abilities, business acumen, and technical expertise. The most pressing issues include ensuring public safety, supporting a high quality of life, fostering local businesses, maintaining fiscal responsibility, and improving transportation and environmental sustainability.
Public Safety: One of the biggest challenges facing Dublin is maintaining public safety. Although Dublin is a relatively safe city, over a thousand crimes, including violent crimes and thefts, still occur each year. Without proper vigilance, these issues could escalate, as we have seen in neighboring cities. Ensuring Dublin remains a safe place for families and businesses is my top priority. I plan to increase police presence, implement advanced crime prevention technologies, and enhance community programs like Neighborhood Watch.
As Mayor, I will proactively expand our public safety staff to maintain fast response times and introduce modern police practices. I am a strong advocate for school crossing guards and more school resource officers to ensure our children’s safety. I’m honored to be the only candidate endorsed by both the Deputy Sheriff’s Association and Alameda County Firefighters. Their trust in me underscores my commitment to public safety and my proven ability to deliver results. I will continue to prioritize Dublin’s safety by ensuring we have the resources needed to protect our community.
Support for a High Quality of Life: Managing growth while preserving Dublin’s charm is a significant challenge as we continue to expand. Dublin is one of California’s fastest- growing cities, and with this growth come concerns about overdevelopment, increased traffic, and pressure on schools and infrastructure. Many residents also have concerns about downtown development, fearing it may negatively impact the city’s character. For example, the proposed Downtown has 8 floor residential homes with high-density housing and limited parking spaces.
I’ve listened to these concerns and have taken action. I was the only council member to vote against the increase of an additional 465 residential homes downtown and the request to eliminate parking requirements in the downtown plan. I voted no for the Downtown North plan, voiced my concerns for too many residential homes. I understand many residents want a downtown to be a place to gather and I will ensure it is developed thoughtfully, providing high-quality dining, shopping and entertainment experiences. I will advocate for balanced, sustainable development that enhances our quality of life without overwhelming our infrastructure. Preserving open spaces and focusing on thoughtful revitalization projects, like Hacienda Crossings, will keep Dublin vibrant and welcoming for residents and businesses.
Business and Jobs: Dublin has seen impressive growth, but retaining businesses and attracting new industries remains a challenge. While companies like Zeiss Innovation Center have boosted our local economy, business closures like Lucky California, Starbucks, Subway Sandwiches, and vacancies at Hacienda Crossings have impacted the local economy and reduced the services available to residents. Additionally, the departure of businesses from California has impacted Dublin, making it crucial to offer incentives and support to ensure Dublin remains an attractive location for companies.
My plan includes initiatives like the Fallon East Economic Development Zone, which aims to attract industries in Life Sciences, Clean Technology, and AI and automation industries. We will continue supporting local businesses through the Business Recovery Playbook and Small Business Navigator Program. I also aim to collaborate with Visit Tri-Valley and athletic industries to develop a multi-use event center, bringing jobs, sports tournaments, and entertainment to Dublin. By focusing on job-rich industries and enhancing our infrastructure, we will create long term opportunities for our residents and ensure Dublin’s continued success.
Fiscal Responsibility: Dublin’s financial stability, with a budget surplus and over $200 million in reserves (including $60 million unassigned), is a testament to responsible management. However, as development slows and costs for salaries, benefits, and infrastructure rise, maintaining our fiscal health will require proactive planning. We need to diversify our revenue sources and manage expenditure carefully to stay ahead of future challenges.
One of my key strategies is to attract job-rich industries that boost sales tax revenue. This will allow us to continue funding essential services like police, firefighters, and community programs without depleting our reserves. I will also prioritize infrastructure investments to ensure our roads, parks, and community services meet the needs of our growing population. By focusing on smart growth and careful financial planning, we will maintain Dublin’s fiscal strength while continuing to provide top-quality services for our residents.
Transportation and Environment: As Dublin grows, traffic congestion and environmental sustainability become critical issues. Managing development to protect our parks and open spaces, while improving transportation systems, is essential to maintaining our community’s quality of life. Traffic congestion is a daily frustration for residents, and we need solutions that balance sustainability with efficiency.
As Mayor, I will continue advocating for transportation improvements such as the Tassajara Road and Village Parkway projects, which have already made commuting easier. Expanding Dublin’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan will make our city safer and more accessible for everyone. I’m especially proud of our Climate Action Plan 2030 and Beyond, which aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045. With initiatives like solar panels and energy-efficient projects already underway, I will continue pushing for green solutions to keep Dublin environmentally responsible and forward-thinking.
In summary, while Dublin’s rapid growth over the past two decades has presented challenges, it also provides valuable opportunities to enhance the quality of life for all residents. By focusing on safety, supporting businesses, guiding thoughtful development, and prioritizing sustainability, I am committed to leading Dublin into a vibrant and prosperous future.
6. What makes you the best candidate?
I am the best candidate for mayor because I am a proven leader with real experience in the areas that matter most to our community. As a business owner, I have built and scaled thriving companies, creating jobs for dozens of people, while my credentials in financial planning and extensive experience equip me to manage and improve our city’s fiscal health. As a former assistant professor, I’ve been dedicated to advancing education and helping youth to succeed. I’ve worked with leading environmental nonprofits, actively protecting open spaces and preserving the natural beauty of the land. My collaborative spirit, analytical skills, and deep understanding of technology ensure I always prioritize the city’s best interests and deliver results.
On public safety, I’m honored to have earned the endorsements of both the Deputy Sheriff’s Association and Alameda County Firefighters Local 55, a testament to my commitment to keeping Dublin safe. My international background and understanding of our diverse demographics enable me to represent all members of our community effectively. I lead with integrity, humility, and a serving attitude.
While others may speak about improving business, education, and the environment, I have actively lived these experiences and delivered tangible results. I am the candidate with a proven track record who can guide Dublin toward a safer, more prosperous future.
7. Outside of politics, what do you enjoy doing?
During my free time, I find great joy in gardening at my parents’ home, where we grow a variety of vegetables such as tomatoes, Burma beans, squash, and pumpkins. This activity is especially meaningful as it brings my family together—my parents, who are in their mid-80s, and my two children often join me. Being a caregiver to my elderly parents is one of the most fulfilling aspects of my life, and I am forever grateful for the time we spend together.
Spending quality time with my family is what brings me the most happiness. Whenever my daughter comes home from college, we love baking together, often making cookies to share with friends. I am proud to be a mother of two children who grew up and went to school in Dublin, and being present for them is a source of immense joy and fulfillment in my life.
8. Any other comments?
Finally, I would like to give my promise and full commitment to prioritize public safety, preserve our residents’ quality of life, protect our beautiful hillsides, control overdevelopment, ensure smooth traffic flow, and support community and education.
Together, let’s build a safer and more prosperous Dublin!
