DUBLIN Airport has issued a major warning for Irish passengers heading abroad this weekend.
Airport bosses have said that the number of people travelling over the coming October Bank Holiday weekend is set to be higher than last year.
They are expecting almost 410,000 passengers between Friday and Monday.
And they added that numbers travelling are set to be higher than the busiest ever October Bank Holiday weekend in 2023, which saw around 405,000 passengers travelling.
Friday is expected to be the busiest day of the weekend, with 110,000 passengers arriving and departing from Dublin Airport, including 58,000 departing passengers.
Passengers travelling during this busy period are recommended to arrive at their terminal of departure two hours in advance of a short-haul flight and three hours prior to a long-haul flight.
Director of Communications at daa, the operator of Dublin Airport, Sarah Ryan said: “This weekend marks the start of the school mid-term holiday, which will give many families an opportunity to embark on autumn getaways overseas.
“Many tens of thousands of tourists are set to fly into Ireland this weekend too, including Lions rugby fans ahead of their match against Leinster in the Aviva Stadium on Saturday evening.”
Sarah also said that the demand for parking at the airport is high for the coming weekend.
And passengers without an existing booking should plan to travel to the airport by bus, taxi or be dropped-off.
She added: “We look forward to welcoming all passengers travelling this weekend and wish everyone a pleasant trip.”

Dublin Airport recommends that passengers prepare for security in advance.
They should make their way directly to the passenger security screening area once checked in to ensure the smoothest journey possible.
Passengers travelling through both terminals are not permitted to carry liquids, aerosols and gels in containers greater than 100ml in their hand luggage.
This means that all liquids, aerosols and gels must be stored in containers of 100 millilitres or less.
The liquids must be contained within a single transparent, re-sealable bag measuring not more than 20cm x 20cm, out of their hand luggage and place them in the security tray.
But exemptions are in place for medicines and baby food.
Passengers must have them outside of the bags and presented separately for screening.
Holidaymakers travelling through Terminal 2 can have as many one-litre bags as they wish, but they must be placed in a single transparent, re-sealable bag measuring not more than 20cm x 20cm.
But passengers going through Terminal 1 are limited to one bag only, which must be placed in a single transparent, re-sealable bag measuring not more than 20cm x 20cm.
This is due to the different scanning machines operating in the two terminals.
Passengers are also advised to check which terminal their flight departs from prior to arriving at the airport.
