Dublin Airport have warned that the October bank holiday weekend will be the busiest they’ve ever seen.
Over 405,000 people travelled in and out of Dublin Airport in the last bank holiday weekend, with the Dublin Airport Authority (daa) revealing that record will be broken this long weekend.
Over 410,000 passengers are expected to travel through Dublin Airport this weekend, making this the busiest October Bank Holiday ever. Friday (October 25) is set to be the busiest day of the weekend, with 110,000 passengers arriving and departing.
PARKING
Sarah Ryan of the daa has advised passengers coming to Dublin Airport should take public transport if they haven’t purchased a parking ticket in advance — as there is high demand for parking.
‘This weekend marks the start of the school mid-term holiday, which will give many families an opportunity to embark on autumn getaways overseas,’ Ms Ryan said. ‘Many tens of thousands of tourists are set to fly into Ireland this weekend too, including Lions rugby fans ahead of their match against Leinster in the Aviva Stadium on Saturday evening.
‘Demand for parking at the airport is high for the coming weekend. Passengers without an existing booking should plan to travel to the airport by bus, taxi, or be dropped-off. We look forward to welcoming all passengers traveling this weekend and wish everyone a pleasant trip.’
The daa have also recommended that the 410,000 passengers travelling through the airport prepare for security in advance, and make their way directly to the passenger security screening area once they check in to ensure the smoothest journey possible.
All liquids being carried in hand luggage must be 100ml or under, with passengers travelling through both Terminal 1 and 2 should be prepared to put their liquids into a single, transparent re-sealable bag no bigger than 20cm x 20cm, which they must take out of their carry-on bags and place them in a security tray.
Passengers travelling through Terminal 2 can have as many one-litre bags as they wish due to different scanning machines at the terminal, but passengers going through Terminal 1 are limited to one bag only.
