Motorists should expect delays this evening as congestion caused by a multi-vehicle collision on the M1 near Drogheda, Co Louth, clears.

The collision, which involved an overturned truck, occurred on the M1 between Julianstown and Duleek – around 2 kilometres south of Drogheda – at around 4pm this afternoon and led to the closure of two lanes.

The driver of the truck received non-life threatening injuries in the collision.

The road has since reopened after closures and local diversions were in place.

Motorists were advised to consider a different route as a result of the incident on the northbound road and were urged to drive with caution, reduce their speed and obey instructions from emergency services.
