JORDIE Barrett made sure to enrich himself in Irish culture before New Zealand’s Aviva Stadium showdown on Friday.
The Hurricanes clubman stopped by Gleeson’s pub in Booterstown, Dublin for a night of play that hilariously turned into work.
The pub shared a clip to their Instagram of Barrett pouring his own pint of the black stuff to raucous cheers from all in attendance.
Barrett was joined by All-Blacks teammates Damian McKenzie, Anton Lienart-Brown and big brother Beauden for a night out on the town before the second outing of their 2024 Autumn Series.
Barrett made his return from a knee injury for New Zealand’s test against England on Saturday.
The pub crawl doubled as a scouting session for the Kiwi as he prepares to join Leinster on a season-long deal in December.
Leinster & Ireland ace Hugo Keenan looks forward to going from adversaries to allies when the 27-year-old first dons blue.
He said: “It is exciting to see him back.
“He has obviously been injured for a couple of weeks. We are all excited to have him in with Leinster.
“He is obviously one of the best players in the world and it will be cool to learn off him.
“I have played against him a few times now and he is top, top class. Even chatted to him after games and swapped jerseys with him so he is a popular figure.
“He knows Tyler Bleyendaal, he knows Brian Colclough- our video analyst in Leinster – so there are a few relationships there already and they are speaking very highly of him and looking forward to getting him into Leinster.
“Getting a few rounds of golf out with him as well. I heard he is pretty handy.”
New Zealand will be without Barrett’s older brother Beauden on Friday after the fly half failed HIA tests after head knocks.
Head coach Scott Robertson said:
“Beauden was conducting the game pretty well, we thought, until the bang.
“He’ll be missed obviously but he’ll be around giving his wisdom and preparing the rest of the players.”
