Dublin star Con O’Callaghan is free to play for Cuala this weekend after his county final red card was rescinded last night.

In what constitutes a massive boost for the first-time Dublin champions, their marquee forward has been cleared to feature in this Saturday night’s televised AIB Leinster club SFC quarter-final against Naas in Newbridge.

Cuala’s historic first Dublin football title was marred by a late red card for O’Callaghan, who was sent off following an off-the-ball coming-together with Kilmacud Crokes ‘keeper Devon Burns.

This left their three-time All-Star facing a one-match suspension that would have ruled him out of their maiden provincial outing.

However, the decision was contested (with the help of video evidence) at a Dublin County Board hearing last night and sources have confirmed that his red card has been overturned.
