DCU Business School Accounting & Finance Students Participate in KPMG Ireland Insight Day

Last Friday, second-year students from the BA in Accounting & Finance at DCU Business School attended an Insight Day hosted by KPMG Ireland. This initiative provided students with a unique opportunity to experience the operations of a premier professional services firm and gain valuable insights into careers in accounting, finance, and consulting.

The KPMG Ireland team extended a warm welcome to our students, who were given a comprehensive tour of the firm’s state-of-the-art offices. Throughout the day, students engaged in a series of presentations delivered by KPMG professionals, who offered in-depth perspectives on their roles within the organisation. These sessions introduced students to the diverse career pathways available within KPMG and provided firsthand insight into the qualifications, skills, and professional standards expected in the industry.

A notable component of the day was a panel discussion with KPMG staff members, including recent graduates, who shared their experiences transitioning from university to full-time roles. This interactive session allowed DCU students to engage directly with professionals who were once in their position, gaining practical guidance on the application process, the importance of early career development, and the key competencies that facilitate success within a competitive professional environment. KPMG team members emphasized critical skills in communication, analytical thinking, and collaboration—competencies strongly embedded within the DCU Accounting & Finance curriculum.

Julie Bertz of DCU Business School expressed her appreciation to KPMG Ireland Careers for their gracious hospitality and commitment to supporting students’ professional development. Collaborations of this nature are instrumental in bridging academic learning with industry expectations, equipping our students with the insights and skills essential for future success.
DCU Business School extends its sincere thanks to KPMG Ireland for an impactful and inspiring experience, one that has undoubtedly reinforced our students’ ambition to excel in their careers.
