Joints, litter and homelessness – Fianna Fáil surround themselves with the issues facing urban dwellers

Fianna Fáil picked an appropriate venue for the launch of its General Election policy on supporting urban communities, or at least one that perfectly depicts the many issues city dwellers face.

It was a lane just off Wexford Street in Dublin city centre that was covered in empty beer bottles, disposable vapes and what looked like vomit. The walls on one side were covered in graffiti, which political advisers presumably thought would make the three candidates present – Jim O’Callaghan, James Browne and Mary Fitzpatrick – look edgy, cool and urban.
