The Cork actor has lived in leafy Monkstown with his wife and two sons since 2015 and has often been spotted enjoying a normal life in the area.

But the Oppenheimer star, whose profile hit another level this year as he became the first Irish-born person to win an Oscar for a leading role, is now set to move a short distance to another house with more privacy.

A source told the Irish Mail on Sunday the 48-year-old’s living situation is becoming ‘too hectic’, as fans hope to catch a glimpse of the star coming and going, or even see the inside of his house through the windows.

Murphy’s current residence is mid-terrace, facing an open square, making him the only Hollywood A-lister whose front door opens directly onto a public street.

The source said there were ‘lots of middle-aged women’ approaching the premises and ‘not necessarily what you would think of as groupies’.

The famously private actor is understood to be moving to a house with a perimeter boundary, which should provide more privacy.

Murphy and his artist wife Yvonne McGuinness moved the family to Dublin from London specifically to give their sons an upbringing not too far removed from their own – and so that they would ‘be Irish’.

The Small Things Like These star has called it ‘the best thing we did’ and is known to be very fond of the area.

Their current home, a two-storey Victorian townhouse built in 1863, was bought for €1.7m in 2015. It is a protected building and was described as an ‘excellent example of a Victorian terraced residence’ by estate agent Sherry FitzGerald, who looked after the initial sale. The 3,444sq ft pad includes six double bedrooms, a drawing room and a number of original fireplaces. The couple are believed to have made a number of improvements to the house.
